I studied Fine Art at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth graduating in 2008. During my time there I specialised in drawing and by my final year had developed a distinctive abstract style.
On leaving university, I joined Commercial Square Studios and have experimented in a range of diciplines including painting and textiles. Since joining the studio group I have set up Helen Jenkins Designs (www.helenjenkinsdesigns.com) and changed diciplines to textiles.
My textile work is quirky and whimsical with childlike influences and I set out to produce pieces for the home to put a smile on your face. Now specialising in applique textile products; framed artwork, cushions and brooches, all items are unique handmade pieces.
I am passionate about fabric and what can be created using it. The possibilities are endless and I enjoy playing with new materials and discovering new techniques to keep my work a continuous evolution of designs. I take inspiration from the everyday object to something magical in order to satisfy an idea.
